As promised, I am posting about our next "move". A day has passed and it is interesting how events are unfolding. Having received a few inquiries concerning my meeting with the landlords yesterday, we now have suggestions on how & when to spend the interim (between this Friday and the begining of October).
Suggestion #1: spend the time out at TNK's dacha (where Yura helped redesign a little of the landscaping). We can also help harvest and enjoy the fresher weather. We'll be sleeping on mattresses and a pull out couch. There is a possibility of the first snow happening, so not excited about being out in a village when and if it does.
Suggestion #2: Split up the family and spread out among households in the church. That might be fun for a day or two, but don't think the kids would endure it for a longer period of time.
Suggestion #3: A friend's dad is out of town until October so his apartment is available at the moment. It is way out there and transportation is bad during the rush hours. Makes that hard for going to school and coming back as well as making it to meetings and back.
Suggestion #4: We have to go to Yekaterinberg to visit the embassy for a number of reasons. Why not now? It is a 24 hour train ride there and we can spend the day there. We can then take a train ride back and stop in Omsk and possibly stay with the pastor. Yura can help with the outreach that will be going on with a team from the states and I and the kids can visit friends I haven't seen in years (with their children also). But the outreach is from September 19-29, so that still leaves a week beforehand and a few days afterwards to find a place to bunk.
Suggestion #5: A guy who attends the Men's Bible Study offered his mother-in-laws apartment since it was empty (she had passed away). It is an hour south, but transportation is pretty good. Just need to get up earlier to make it to the city on time for school and meetings. Oops. Just found out it is being rented out. Not available.
Suggestion #6: We heard through the grapevine that someone's mom's apartment is available. Don't know the details as of this writing, so will follow up on that soon.
What is encouraging is that people really do care and have a heart to help. We are blessed to have so many friends and people who love us! The challenge is to wait on the Lord for His still small voice. What do we do? Which suggestion or combination of suggestions will work? Or is this all the thunder and lightning before the still small voice?
As we ponder, pray and "patiently" wait, we are eager to see the outcome. Packing is unavoidable, so I must concentrate on that task. "The saga continues . . ." Have a blessed day!
