The Aftermath

Usually, when there is a tremendous storm, the results are unpleasant. If you take recent history (and I mean very recent history), hurricanes, tornados, tsunamis, floods, volcanic eruptions, etc. - they have all left their devastating marks on our earth and in the lives of many people.

Then there is another kind of "wind" that blows through, yet the results are pleasant. Like a warm, summer breeze that gently shakes the flowers in the fields resulting in waves of rainbow-colored beauty. Or the struggle of a butterfly bursting from its self-woven "shell" with its brilliant colors and patterns. Or the smell of freshness, cleanliness after the washing of a rainstorm.

We recently had our little "wind" come through town. Three godly men gave up time and money to fly half way around the globe to serve anyone they met. And they met all kinds! They met with our Nigerian brothers who very much need encouragement in their spirit. They are still stuck in their apartment with no real answers as of yet. They met with English students - some eager to practice what they have been studying; others asking questions with more of a spiritual tone. They met with 20 or more men for a conference entitled "How to Stay Clean in a Dirty World". They made themselves available to serve wherever the Lord lead them.

We miss them. We miss their fellowship and their jokes. We miss their smiles, laughter, and examples of servanthood. The day after they left, my husband said it was like a piece of him was missing. His friends that he had served with in our home church for years had been that refreshing summer breeze for his soul.

We know we will see them again - either here on earth or with our heavenly Father in eternity. We are thankful for their visit and we look forward to seeing the results of planted seeds in the hearts of people. We look forward to keeping in touch and a possible future visit.

After a day of relaxing and reflecting on the past week of non-stop activity, we are getting back into the groove of things. This month is the city-wide media project. We have already received phone calls requesting a visit and a free book full of testimonies about the saving power of Jesus Christ. The work continues. The need to serve Jesus continues.

If you are the praying type, pray with us to be strong and available to serve everyone the Lord brings across our path. One call we received was a lady who is thinking of attempting suicide. Another is seeking answers as to why there is so much tragedy in her life. Others do not go into detail, but want someone to bring them a free book. Pray for those who will be meeting those who call. Pray for the Holy Spirit to do His work. Pray for love, gentleness, wisdom on our part and salvation for those who are calling.

Pray that in the midst of whatever storm these people are going through, that the aftermath would not be devastating, but new life, freshness, and cleanliness. Have a blessed day.
